 "Not as advertised." 2010-02-03
By K. Richter (Lake Forest, IL)
Planks were advertised as 13" X 7". Two of the planks were, but the other two were 13" X 6". That one inch is the difference between a salmon fillet fitting nicely on the board or not. Would not buy or recommend this product again.

 "Excellent for the BGE" 2009-08-04

We bought a Big Green Egg smoker and use these on it. We plank Salmon mostly, and we have gotten 4 uses out of the plank so far. If you soak it in water really good before using it, you will get good use out of it.

 "Cedar Plank Conflagration" 2009-05-08
By Burt Heacock (Vienna, VA)
Well I decided to try cedar plank grilling and I bought two sets of cedar and alder boards. I carefully followed the directions and soaked the plank in water for over an hour. I then put it on the grill, waited for it to smoke slightly and placed my salmon on the wood. I even turned the flame down under the wood. Within less than five minutes the plank was burning. I used water to put out the fire, but the damage was done. Most of the plank and my fish was reduced to ash. I've done some research and I don't think that 1/4 inch planks will work. To do this properly you should have 1/2 inch or better. This was a real waste of money.Cameron Cookware Alder and Cedar Grilling Planks, Set of 4

"Give plank grilling a try!" 2008-11-16
By T. Long (Shenandoah Valley, VA)
I don't know if the Cameron planks are any better than others I've tried, but plank grilling is great. Cedar, Adler, and others are all good and impart a nice smoky flavor and aroma to all sorts of foods. Perfect for indirect heat on a gas grill. I've had great luck getting multiple uses from planks (soak 'em well), so per use cost is less than buying wood chunks for a smoke box. Different companies have slightly different dimensions, which could be important depending on the size of your grill.

Disappointing, little to no cedar flavor in the fish. Can't be used again, fell apart when tried to clean. Try another brand.

"Read the fine print before you buy this stuff" 2010-02-11
By Scott Michael Long (Guadalajara, Mexico)
I should have read the fine print.

The name of the product is Cameron Cookware Alder, Hickory, Oak, and Cherry Wood Smoking Chips.

The dictionary describes a wood chip as: "a small chip of wood, esp. one that flakes off when felling a tree or splitting a log"

Imagine my surprise when I opened the containers of Cameron Cookware Alder, Hickory, Oak, and Cherry Wood Smoking Chips and found what appears to be saw dust.

However, when I went back to Amazon.com and checked the product description I found the wood chips described as; "Pure ground wood chip..."

In all fairness this product should be labled Cameron Cookware Alder, Hickory, Oak, and Cherry Wood Pure Ground Wood Chips.

On each container is the warning: " This product is not be used in any manner other than specified in the Cameron Smoker Cooker cookbook..."

Well, jump back and take notice especially since the Cameron Cookbook was not included in my order.

I know how to use real wood chips. Soak them in water and then add them to the charcoal in your grill.

Saw dust I don't know how to use except to mulch my garden.

i LOVE this stuff with my cameron stove top smoker. when i can't BBQ outside it provides me with really yummy food. it works on meat and veggies. i heard you can use it to smoke cheese or on your outdoor grill. i have not tried these uses.

it provides a less charcoal but more smokey flavor than outdoor charcoal grilling.

a wonderful product.

 "Love my Cameron Smoker" 2009-09-03
By Jeannine A. Hood (Mapleville, Rhode Island USA)
I bought this four pack of chips for my smoker. It's a great deal. I do have to use it on the burner of my grill now because my husband has COPD and using it indoors irritates his lungs. But the smell of these chips is just as nice outdoors.

 "Confusing Amazon Description" 2009-05-30
By Gerry Scott-Moore (Santa Ana, CA USA)
I'm irked that I bought four pints of sawdust when the web page clearly says "wood chips" all over it. In fact it is sawdust which is to be used ONLY in the "Cameron Smoker Cooker". I'm sure "wood" could be used almost anyway and so could "smoke". But I think we all know what a "chip" is. And none will be found in this package.

What an amazing irritation. I'm rarely disappointed with my Amazon purchases, but I'd certainly have to give low rating that purported to be X and was in fact Y.

Grrrr....
