This is a great set in particular when you can get a deal on it. I purchased the set last Christmas for my wife and the price was really decent and they threw in the spatula set for free as well (also recommended). We started using all the pieces immediately and continued to buy even more over this last year. I will say that if you find a similar set with the griddle I would consider it as that is really the only item we don't use at least weekly. It just doesn't seem to fit as I can't find a good use for it and it is more dofficult to clean. But the other three pieces are highly recommended and perhaps the griddle has a use as well, I just haven't found it yet.

I have not seen any pitting. Each piece will get a workout in my kitchen. A great set for those who are looking to upgrade their cookware. Satin Dune might not be the most exciting color, but it will blend in with most "standard" kitchen decor. I'm not big on everything being perfectly color matched (I have Le Creuset items in about 3 different colors now), but I know it is a consideration for some. Be sure to watch for special offers, as they come up often.

I reccomend this product to any avid cook. Especially for soups and stews, the dutch oven is just...marvelous. Searing in the pan is a breeze and gives it great color. They are so easy to clean up. Its just great. I've been wanting this for a long time and it has met and exceeded my expectations.

I bought the Dune set on a lightning deal. The 5.5 qt oven had a pitting problem. Two deep pits on the bottom interior surface and many minor pits on the outside. It would be a second in the Le Creuset outlet. I contacted Amazon and they were great and sent out a replacement set, not only the oven. The second set had one pit mark on the interior side of the 5.5 qt so I keept it and sent the rest of the second set back with the first pitted 5.5 qt oven. It was a pain since the box weighs 40 pounds. Amazon did well by me but Le Creuset needs better quality control.

P.S. I lost out on the bonus since I had to order lightning fast to get the deal, so be prepared if you are tracking this set for a deal.

This is by far the best cookware available. My advice, READ the manual before using if you are not familiar with the way cast iron cooks. I made the mistake of turning my burners to high heat when they function on low to medium! You will burn your food and ruin your pan if you use the high heat! Other than that (which is entirely my fault for not reading) this is so nice to have in my collection. This set is perfect to round off a cookware set.

The selection of these pieces are what you need to start cooking with, an excellent starter set. Only drawback, hard to crank up heat to sear meats and carmelize in non-stick skillet hence the 4star. I am a graduate chef de cuisine from LeNotre. We used some LeCreuset products at school for braising and roasting, and I like them for home use, as well. The heat distribution and ease from range to oven is nicest feature. The steam hole on the lid of the saucepan is nice for warming bechamels and mornay sauces. I plan to buy this set for my nieces when they set up housekeeping.

This set will fill your needs or just introduce you to the fine cookware that Le Creuset makes. Always a bit pricey, the durability and cookability of these pans is legendary. Remember to reduce the heat when cooking and allow for seasoning of the pan with use and it should provide many many years of service. Haven't had the enamel chip off yet, but try not to bang them around too much. Remember these are heavy pans and a strong wrist and firm grip is needed. Would I buy them again? No need to, they will last a lifetime to be passed down to heirs.

It will be years before I am really ready to comment on this cookware, but my first impressions are good. I have always heard good things about Le Creuset and I am pleased with the look and feel.



I was worried the cast iron would take too much longer to heat up, but I don't notice it taking longer. I do notice that I don't have to worry as much about "catching back up" after adding more to the pot--they maintain heat better.



I have scorched some things on the pans and you are not supposed to scour them, but so far everything comes off with a hot water soak and some patient scrubbing.



As should already be clear, the cast iron is heavy. I don't mind but it is quite noticeable so it may be a downside for others who are considering.



The only thing that has bothered me at all is that the stickers don't come off very cleanly. There's sticker glue on the beautiful pots and pans that won't go away. Irritating for such classy pans.
