 "Wow!" 2010-04-16
By Marie Dunn (Orlando, FL)
I am 63 and as a dad have cooked for my kids with my wife and just wore out my old Presto top wobbling pressure cooker and could not get the new gasket to fit into it after many many tries.

So I purchased this new Fagor set and was a little wary because of the price, being from the dark ages but I bought it on sale at Macy's and all I can say is WOW!!!!!

This set has so many uses other than a pressure cooker it pays for itself and on a flat top stove really keeps an even temp. If you have never used a pressure you need this cooker for the time

savings and most of all for the safety factor. Great quality for the price, great multifunction set and most of all you will never get blue fingers trying to replace a gasket and have many years

of service. My wife introduced me to the use of a pressure cooker and Fagor has done the rest. Great kitchen item. Would buy again.

"I LOVE this pressure cooker set!" 2010-01-20
By Bonnie (Utah)
I love this pressure cooker set. It is easy to use and the pans are great quality. Pressure cooking has opened up a whole new world in cooking for me. My family thinks I may be a little crazy because I get so excited to cook in the pressure cooker. I think I might be a little bit addicted.

 "Best pressure cooker ever" 2008-03-04
By dragonlord (NY.USA.)
Fagor is the most under-rated pressure cooker around, and one of the best. I have bought the set about a month ago, and now most of my old pots have become obsolete, you can do anything and everything with this. Pasta, Pot roast, (non greasy and cooked well)chicken wing fry, Beef-Pork-Chicken you name it. I used to take about close to 3 hours to make any type of roast or crockpot style dish but now it is done in half the time.

 "Speed, meet Versatility" 2007-12-12
By Joseph Ekaitis (Southern California)
Buy a pressure cooker if you think you'll use it at least once a week.

Buy this Fagor Elite pressure cooker set and you'll use it a lot more often. At home on ANY kind of range (smooth-top or coil electric, gas, induction), the two pots and their interchangeable lids add versatility to speed, and that equals more bang for your cookware buck (pardon the bad pun). The glass lid turns the 8-quart pot into a handy stockpot or pasta boiler. Put the lid on the 4-quart pan and, voila, it becomes that extra saucepan you never seem to have when you really, really need one. When dinner's ready but you're not (pressure cookers are rocket-fast, you know), replace the pressure lid with the glass lid to keep it warm without overcooking or drying out.

The stainless steel basket isn't big enough to hold a pound of long dry pasta, despite the photo, but it's the vessel of choice for shorter cuts like penne and rotelle, and for blanching filled pastas like ravioli and pirogies. Set it atop the trivet and it becomes the perfect steamer, whether you use the glass or pressure lid. And if it happens to fit a pot you already own, consider it a bonus.

Fagor pressure cookers are among the easiest to use and care for. Instead of a wobbling weight or a ringed post pressure indicator, Fagor uses a spring-loaded pressure regulator. Heat the cooker on high heat until steam begins to flow from the regulator, start your timer and then back off the heat to maintain a steady gentle hiss. Once you've found your stove's sweet spot, you're not chained to the cooktop. As long as you can see steam or hear the hiss, you can go about your other cooking tasks. Wobbling weight regulators can be thrown off if the pot is jostled, and sealed-system pressure cookers require a constant eye on the number of visible rings. The regulator is also the pressure release valve, engineered so that the steam dissipates and cools quickly. At six inches from the vent, the steam is warm but not hot enough to burn your skin. Remember, this is steam that's 250 degrees Fahrenheit when it's under pressure!

To keep the cook safe, Fagor pressure cookers have three locking mechanisms. The manual latch engages a pressure-activated locking pin that rises as pressure builds, keeping the cooker locked as long as pressure is present. The pressure itself pushes the flanges on the lid and pot together, creating a natural locking action. You'd have to be built like Mister Universe to force open a pressurized cooker. A small cutout in the lid exposes a portion of the gasket. If the pressure has no other way out, the gasket will stretch or snap, but will stay in place while the pressure escapes through the rim of the lid, not into the cook's face.

Odds are, whatever you pressure cook in one pot will be served with something you can prepare in the other as well. We use the 4-quart pot to pressure cook spaghetti sauce with quarter-pound meatballs in just 10 minutes under pressure, while the 8-quart pot and glass lid take care of the spaghetti. Every piece in the set, except the pressure lid and gasket, can go in the dishwasher. Your humble author uses Bar Keeper's Friend to take care of any really tough discoloration. Keeping the gasket clean is easy because it's so easy to remove and replace. With weekly use and proper care, a gasket lasts about 12 to 18 months. The money you save on energy will more than pay for a new gasket.

If you've never heard of Fagor or you're wondering if it's a brand a pro would use, Lola Bistro owner and head chef Michael Symon used a Fagor pressure cooker while competing to become Food Network's newest Iron Chef. He then went on to win his first Iron Chef America challenge, preparing one of his winning dishes in his Fagor. Although he's not officially connected to Fagor in any way, I can't think of a better endorsement.

I bought this one as a gift for someone, I'm not sure whether or not they've used it yet, but I have 2 of these (different sizes) and I think they're great. They're easy to use although I'm sure that all pressure cookers are a little bit scary at first. I get great results every time I cook with them, and they're easy to clean.

Overall, I'd say that this item is great for people who are adventurous cooks who don't always have lots of time.

 "This is the one" 2010-05-03
By A. M. Miller (Sunnyvale, CA)
I spent hours looking at slow cookers and reading reviews and finally decided on this one and I'm so glad I did. It has an oval

shape which is said to be very useful when cooking meats. Rather than having a pile, you can spread out the pieces so they are not

one on top of the other. This cooker is wider, not taller which works well.

It is fabulous that there are 2 cooking pans as for smaller things (my usual) I only need the 2 quarts and if I want to

make soups or anything with lots of veggies, I can use the 4 quart, which is a very decent size. The 2 quart one is fine

for several pieces of meat and a couple of cut up potatoes on top. I thought I would want a big cooker (5 quarts +) but fortunately

someone reminded me of how big they would be and that when using these cookers, the recommendation is to fill it

at least 1/2 way, which for a big cooker would be hard. They also take up a lot of space, which this smaller, oval shaped one does not.

The other thing I really like is that they are made of stoneware, super easy to clean and SAFE, not like anything with

non-stick coating. I've really enjoyed clean up so easy it may as well have been non-stick. Every recipe I've tried says

to oil the pan and I've done so but even place not oiled never required any effort to clean. And the pans are heavy, solid

cooking pans.

This is really a simple but quality appliance & I'm so glad I chose this one.

 "Oval Has Its Advantages" 2010-04-12
By WanderingStar (Wherever I Park It)
I ordered this to use when boondocking(solar) or plugged into shore power.

I have owned a 1.5 qt and a 3 qt slow cooker in the past but did not wish to carry 2 separate units in in my RV. My 6 qt has been gone for quite sometime as I only found it practical for family use.

This slow cooker is the perfect cooker with the the perfect two sizes and shapes of crocks to prepare the recipes in Not Your Mother's Slow Cooker Recipes for Two: For the Small Slow Cooker.

The author suggests an oval shaped slow cooker for more versatility esp. when cooking things like pork chops, chicken breasts ,etc. The oval shape accomodates the items being placed on top side by side instead of stacking the pieces. This slow cooker acomplishes that for both sizes of crocks (the cookbook offers recipes for 1.5 Qt and 3 Qt slowcookers) for small households.

The Crockpot SCBAG Travel Bag for 7-Quart Slow Cookers acommodates the entire slow cooker set up perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised by the perfect fit.

Being able to nest both inner crocks and store them in the cooking unit makes for a space saving unit.

The Not Your Mother's Slow Cooker Recipes for Two: For the Small Slow Cooker and the slow cooker are great for small households, rvers, dorm rooms, empty nesters, as well as apartment dwellers.

GREAT SELLER!

I could not believe how fast the unit arrived from the seller. It was also well packaged for protection. This great service without charging for shipping.

Eurodib Single Induction Cooker, 120 Volts

Buy Cheap Eurodib Single Induction Cooker, 120 Volts

Buy Low Price From Here Now

Induction cooking produces heat through the production of magnetic fields. This is an extremely energy efficient cooking method using approximately 90 percent of the energy produced. When used with magnetic cookware the electrical energy utilized by the induction cooker is transmitted directly to the pan surface. It is the pan not the burner that heats up. In addition to being efficient, this allows for very responsive temperature adjustments. Induction is also an extremely safe method of cooking. Once the pan is removed from the cooker, the energy transfer stops and the cook plate is soon cool to the touch. This single burner, portable induction unit is designed for light commercial and domestic use. Control functions allow for adjustment of temperature (140-390F), power level (1-10), and cook time (5-120 minutes). Note that low temperatures are achieved at the lower power and temperature settings, whereas the higher temperatures are achieved at the higher power and temperature levels. Safety features include auto switch off and alarm when temperature exceeds 390 degrees F.

"After 6 months, very happy." 2009-10-14
By T Boyer (Seattle)
NOTE: This unit is also sold as the Max Burton 6000 for half the price. My recommendation applies to the Max Burton unit as well.

This is our first induction unit and we love it. I think this is a remarkable technology and can be had so cheaply, I don't know why everybody isn't buying these.

1)Very intense heat when you want it -- better than a high powered gas stove for stir frying or steak on cast iron. This unit is quite powerful rated at 1600 watts.

2)Instant and precise temperature controls -- comparable to gas.

3)Digital temperature indicators -- far better than gas.

4)A timer!! Fantastic. So you can put something on and plan to have it stop cooking in 10 minutes. No range does this that I know of.

5)MUCH less wasted heat. With a conventional range, 50-60% of the heat is just heating up your kitchen. With induction, ALL the heat goes into the bottom of the pan so much less is wasted and your kitchen stays cooler. That is also why induction provides such intense heat for frying.

A couple of other comments.

-- Don't get bamboozled into buying expensive clad stainless for compatibility with induction. There are very inexpensive disk bottom stainless saucepans pans that will perform extremely well -- shop the restaurant supply houses. Johnson-Rose is one brand I like and they're dirt cheap. Arguably disk bottom is BETTER than pricy clad pans that try to spread the heat up the walls of the pan. You usually don't WANT the heat on the sides. Another thing that works great on induction is your old reliable cast iron.

-- I cannot tell if there are real performance differences between induction brands. People seem to like the $500 Viking induction cooktop, but Viking customers are notorious for wanting to justify all the money they spent. The Viking's selling point is a lot of wattage, but the $105 Eurodib we own has virtually the same power rating.

The quandary is what brand to buy -- and I suspect for the most part you can't make a bad choice. I've shopped 110 volt induction cooktops extensively and the differences seem to be relatively slight. They all have mostly the same features and all seem to get good reviews. Some are more powerful than others (this Eurodib is 1600 watts supposedly) but I'm not sure that power really means much for home use because they will all heat up a pan to 400 degrees. And most people don't need searing heat most of the time anyway -- most of our cooking is at the moderate temps. So the most important feature may be a wide gradation of power and temperature settings.

"Poorly designed and poorly manufactured." 2009-12-09
By Phil M (NY)
This is poorly manufactured from inadequate materials. The metal on the ring of the lid is not securely attached to the glass, leaving an uncleanable crease that collects dirty water. The handles on the pot are inadequately attached, fitting loosely. The loose handle cause water to come through the rivet holes. The pot handles are also flimsy and bent when picking up the full pot. The strainer is too tight of a fit into the pot, and does not easily slide past the pot handle rivets. The strainer is such a close fit to the inside of the pot that as the water boils, steam and boiling water shoot out of the top like a geyser. The holes of the strainer are punched out and left with sharp, rough edges. After boiling one pot of pasta in water, the material became discolored and pitted... I suspect that it is not actually stainless steel as the description claims. When originally opening the box, there was a substance everywhere that seemed to be grease with dirt and metallic residue in little bits everywhere. For how many things were wrong with this, I can't believe that a replacement would be any better, so I returned it and am waiting for my refund.

"Just the Basics But Good Results" 2009-09-19
By George B. Perry (Austin, TX United States)
This my second microwave rice cooker. They are very quick and easy to use. I never cook rice in any other way now. I had my old one for over 10 years. This Progressive model is smaller and has one less lid component then my old one. The second time I used this new one I tried 2 cups of dried rice. I microwaved it for 22 minutes. The rice was still cooked just fine. Some of it boiled over, causing a bit of a clean up. Maybe I will try 20 minutes next time. Cooking 1 cup is no problem. I think 2 cups is the max on this model. I will continue to use it. My star rating is a 3, which means good, with 4 being very good and 5 being excellent. Lost points for size and skimping on the lid setup.

"A must if you love rice!" 2009-08-12
By Rebecca Lewis (Arnold, MD)
I love rice! I hate cooking it though - too little room for a rice cooker, pans with crusted rice take too long to clean, and instant rice is, let's face it, sub par at best.

The good:

*super easy clean up, no joke. I don't know how well it weathers a dishwasher, as i do not own one, but it is a breeze to clean by hand. It is non-stick, even when you make sticky rice

* no burned on, crusted on, wasted rice

* convenient, you can mix the rice and water, then pop the whole contraption into the microwave and move on with little worries and make the rest of your meal

* easy to store, non intrusive, no cords, and doesn't get too too hot

* can make up to 6 cups of rice and still make an individual portion! yay!

The bad:

* you need to play with it at first. the water vs rice measurements don't seem to work out exactly right (but the results are still edible, so it's really personal preference here)

* making rice is so easy and hassle free you may have to buy more rice more often ;)

In short, only avoid this product if you have a) no interest in rice; or b) no microwave

I had this rice cooker for years (all white), and absolutely loved it. It was "accidentally" sold at a moving sale, so I went online to replace it when I settled into my new place. From the picture I wasn't sure if it was the same thing (different color), but thankfully it is! I love the convenience and the rice always comes out perfect. I also cook my quinoa in it and it comes out great.
