This pan combo works exactly as described and is so easy to use. The individual cups are perfect to remove eggs as they finish, but beware of the steam vent holes and don't burn your fingers (hint turn the cup handles to the outside when you start). The pan can also be used without the insert so it is dual purpose. Sturdy enough for home use and the clear lid makes watching the eggs easy. I choose to hand wash mine but it is dishwasher safe.

This pan reminds me of the somewhat flimsy items you can find in supermarkets -- bright and shiny but not built last. The handle has no heft, and the egg cups and frame seem unlikely to last for long. I suppose that's the best you can get for $30 these days. However, after trying the cute little silicone egg poachers also available at Amazon, I was much happier with the egg-cooking experience using this pan. The eggs cooked evenly and there was no difficulty with water boiling up over the sides of the cups, as is the case with the silcone versions.



Update -- one week later: I pulled one of the egg cups out of the dishwasher and watched the little handle/knob bounce away. The screw holding it had come loose during the wash cycle. Being smaller than the screen at the bottom of my machine, the screw must have disappeared down the drain. So, now I have to make the time to visit the hardware store to see if I can find a replacement. What a nuisance! I'm dropping my rating from 3 down to 2 stars for this.

Yes, steak really does taste better when you know the clean-up will be quick and easy. Two nicely-sized T-bone steaks fit on the broiling deck very easily. Season them with salt and pepper and a little oil if one likes, then put a little water in the bottom pan. Stick the whole set under the broiler and then just relax. Clean up is a breeze and the steaks are terrific. What a wonderful product!

Wish I'd seen the other review before buying this. My old aluminum pan is easier to clean than this one. I've used this pan several times and it's going into the trash today. Food burns into the indents in the pan and it's impossible to get off. The cooking surface of the pan always feels sticky. I've tried soaking overnight and scrubbing the heck out of it with a pad meant for nonstick surfaces. No luck. What a waste of money!

We broiled fish on this pan twice. It was cleaned twice with only a non abrasive sponge. The non stick material has come off all the raised areas of the pan! Admittedly it was a tasteless substance yet I don't know what effect it is having on my stomach. This company is obviously after a fast buck. Do yourself a very large favor and avoid buying this pan. Had I purchased this in a store I'd walk in and demand my money back.

My bigger stainless steamer was just too big for cooking small portions, so I bought this one.



It's much easier to prepare food with this because it only holds so much - so I don't end up cooking way more than I should be eating.



The smaller amount of water it holds comes to the boil much quicker too and really it only takes maybe 5-7 minutes to steam veggies in it.

This set has held up well. I've steamed fish, dumplings, little buns, and all sorts of Asian style foods in here and it fits perfectly into a medium sized wok.
